It's been busy at our main warehouse in Auckland with Kelly Larritt delivering 4 Ice banks to farmers in the last week. We took delivery of our latest shipment of 3 full 40 ft container loads from the factory and trying to turn them around as quickly as possible to the eager farmers who are experiencing warmer spring weather conditions.

The Fullwood Packo Ice banks are able to manage small herds from 20 to 30 cows up to over 2000 . The result in all cases is similar with very cold milk at low as 1.5 C entering the storage tank due to constant supply of ice cold water just about the triple point of water.

Largest Packo Horizontal Milk Tank arrives!

Recently DCS supplied the largest Packo Horizontal Milk Tank to Sika Farms, Central North Island.

The 31,600L milk tank is the longest tank manufactured by Packo, and only just fits into a 40' container. Shrink wrapped and well protected it was gently extracted from the shipping container before being loaded onto its transporter to Taupo.

Now onsite and unwrapped, the refrigeration system is connected and operational and the DCS team are just waiting for the dairy plumbing to be completed for final commissioning of the CIP System later this week.

Another successful PIB installation, this time in Ashburton, Canterbury, and installed by Mark and Scott of Stewart & Holland. The PIB has been up and running for a week now with milk entering the vat at 4°C from both milking’s and Dave the farmer could not be happier! A PIB120 was selected as the most suitable size for Dave's farm which milks 600-700 cows. Good job guys!

A busy start to the year!

February has been a busy month at Dairy Cooling Solutions.

With 9 Packo Ice Banks going out to farmers around the country over the next week, 2 PIB's to Northland for TruTest and Kensington Refrigeration farmers, 2 PIB's to the Waikato for Centigrade Refrigeration farmers, 1 PIB to Rotorua for a Temprite Industries customer and 4 PIB's to the Nelson/Takaka region for Golden Bay Refrigeration farmers, the DCS team and our Installation Partners are certainly being kept busy.
One of our larger units, a PIB160 is loaded up on the trailer for delivery to Trutest Whangarei for one of their customers today.

The Packo Ice Banks are proving their value across the country with every one of the 40+ units supplied to-date performing beyond farmers expectations. Golden Bay A&P Show, Saturday 21st Jan, 2017

Over the weekend Dairy Cooling Solutions exhibited at the Golden Bay A&P show in Nelson alongside DCS partner Golden Bay Refrigeration. The Golden Bay A&P Show is smaller show but well supported by locals with lots to see and do and something for everyone.

We had the PIB-60 with a full load of ice on display under our pop up Marquee to protect us from the elements. Golden Bay Refrigeration had booked a great spot for the show. Located next to the Royal Service Centre in the main paddock we had steady traffic from about 10 am onward until about 2 pm when people started disappearing to escape the storm that was bearing down on the region.

All the farmers Frank and Liz wanted to come through for PIB systems this season paid a visit so we are expecting some good PIB orders between now and the coming dry if all goes well. Nick Riley a well-respected electrician in the Bay also paid a visit with his family. Frank has being doing more work with him in the region as well as the local Waikato Milking systems franchise owner who does all the PHE work for the PIB upgrades, so it is a real collaboration of local companies to help farmers upgrade their systems and meet the new cooling regulations.

Chris Farmer, our Sales & Marketing Director was in Nuremberg attending the ChillVenta International Refrigeration and HVAC Expo a few weeks ago.
Packo, the Belgian manufacturer of our DCS Packo Ice Builders was exhibiting with the fantastic new demo ice builder unit with clear glass panels that allows you to really see the PIB in action. We plan to bring this demo unit to New Zealand for the 2017 Field Days.

Packo Milk Cooling Tank is fully commissioned!

Looking good! Our first Packo Milk Cooling Tank is now fully commissioned, tested and ready to receive its 15,000L of milk.
The Packo Milk Cooling Tanks are suited to Ice Water Cooling or Direct Expansion Refrigeration. With a cooling pad the full length and half the diameter of the tank these are significantly more efficient than a vertical tank - add to that the fact that these are also insulated operating costs reduce dramatically!
The Packo Milk Cooling Tanks also come with Brains! The temperature control and wash cycles are already integrated into the Packo iControl - this means total convenience for the farmer and tanker driver.

first DCS/Packo ice builder install in south cantebury…

Our largest Ice Builder, model PIB-230, installed to date (see earlier post) was commissioned in South Canterbury last week by ATR Refrigeration and another very impressed and happy farmer!

With 11,000 Liters of milk snap-chilled in the afternoon milking from 32.8degC to 0.2DegC before entering the vat who wouldn't be - and zero risk of freezing the milk using 0degC water!
The PIB-230 is our 2nd to largest model Ice Builder producing a whopping 2,500kg of Ice and 5,200 liters of Ice Water.
Commissioned in the morning and a full load of Ice made over only 5hrs. The vat refrigeration was not required during the afternoon milking.
Compliance - Yes
Energy Savings - Yes
#bestqualitymilk - Yes
The first photo shows the milk temperature entering the Plate Heat Exchanger at 32.8degC and the second photo the temperature of the milk leaving the PHE to the tank.
